Upgrades Galore for the 2020 Ford Explorer

Chances are, if you’ve been shopping for new Ford vehicles for any time at all, you’re familiar with the Ford Explorer. The three-row SUV, released in the 1990s, is known as the “best-selling SUV of all time.” However, with the release of the 2020 model coming soon, you can expect to see a plethora of new features and the model's first redesign in eight years.

The 2020 Ford Explorer has four trim levels: XLT, Limited, ST, and Platinum. It offers three engine options: 2.3-liter four-cylinder, 3.0-liter V6, and 3.3-liter V6. It also uses a ten-speed automatic transmission. It can generate up to 400 horsepower and 415 lb-ft of torque in select trims, making it the most powerful Ford Explorer to date.

The seven-passenger SUV now features an all-new rear-wheel drive addition. Paired with the impressive engine options, it can tow up to 5,600 pounds. There will also be a hybrid option for the new SUV. It will be the only hybrid in its class that can haul 5,000 pounds. Plus, it has all the same off-road capabilities of the gasoline-powered models.

It optimizes towing technology to help when you need to bring trailers, boats, or all types of equipment along for the ride. The Class III Trailer Tow Package includes AdvanceTrac® with Roll Stability Control that brakes and adjusts your engine power to maintain control. You can have even more control behind the wheel with the Intelligent 4WD with Terrain Management System™ that gives you seven selectable Drive Modes, depending on your terrain and weather.

The 2020 Ford Explorer is expected to hit showroom floors this summer. Want to learn more? Visit our Forddealership near Omaha, NE for more information. Or, give our sales team a call at 888-448-2239. We’re happy to help!
