While the Ford Explorer certainly isn't a new name when it comes to SUVs, it usually falls at the top of car buyers' lists. That's because the Ford Explorer has become synonymous with durability, power, and safety, and the brand-new model lives up to its reputation. Though it's only recently been added to our inventory at Woodhouse Ford, the 2020 Ford Explorer has already created a lot of excitement.

Power and Performance

Even with the base 2020 Ford Explorer, you will get a big and powerful engine. It comes standard with a 2.3-liter EcoBoost® engine that generates 300 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. But that's just for starters. There is also a 365-horsepower 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 engine that will give you 380 pound-feet of torque. If you want to do your part for the environment (or perhaps just save a few bucks on gas), you can opt for the Ford Explorer hybrid model that has a 3.3-liter V6 hybrid engine with an electric motor. Whichever engine you choose, you will get a 10-speed automatic transmission. In the base trim, you can choose between rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. Another available feature include the Terrain Management System, which lets drivers make adjustments to traction control, suspension, and transmission shifting for different driving conditions.

Model Specs:

  • Engine: 2.3L, 3.0L EcoBoost®, 3.3L V6 Hybrid
  • Power: up to 400 HP, 415 lb-ft torque
  • Transmission: 10-speed auto

If you choose second-row captain's chairs in your Ford Explorer, you'll be able to seat up to six people. If you prefer a bench, this will go up to seven. When it comes to tech features, this SUV has surpassed many 2019 Ford models. Android Auto™, Apple CarPlay™, and Amazon Alexa™ connectivity is standard, as is 4G WiFi for up to 10 devices. You can also get four USB ports and a Qi wireless device charging pad.

The Ford Explorer seems to get safer every year thanks to advanced Ford technology. The 2020 model comes standard with the Ford Co-Pilot360® system that includes automatic emergency braking, dynamic brake support, forward collision warning, and blind spot monitoring.

Standard Safety Features:

  • Automatic emergency braking
  • Dynamic brake support
